Visit to Portland, Or.

Hey,
It was wonderful to get away from the house, and go to the Portland area to visit my two daughters. What a relaxing time, although I did a lot of shopping. Yes, there is no sales tax there, so I had that advantage to purchase some of the items for the kitchen remodel. I'll have new cabinets by the end of the week. Anyway, the weather in Portland was great. We ate at some great restaurants, and generally had a great time. It was good to see the little baby bump developing on my oldest daughter, she is due in April. She and John have a nice place with 2bd and 2ba, in a nice neighborhood. The farmers mkt. is just a block away, I love that! Was able to walk along the river adjacent to downtown Portland with Hales. Could just imagine how beautiful and vibrant it would be in the summer. Even though there were many people enjoying the walk also. It was hard to leave, but know that all my kids were raised to take care of themselves, and fly away like butterflies. Had a great trip home, mostly rain, but still enjoyable.

Did we all drink the cool aid?

WOW! Some have drank the cool aid. I refuse to drink it! Weather we like it or not we'll get some change. The years ahead will only tell. Yes, some of the issues do have to be tackled for this nation to move forward. My hope is that someone has the courage to at least work on the issues.

MELTDOWN

WOW!!! HAVEN'T SEEN THIS IN MY LIFE TIME!!!

Have been resting my arm, major tendinitis going on. Thank goodness I'm not going to use my IRA any time soon, will have to wait to see what happens with that. Glad the 401k is mostly set up for early retirement. Love my new windows, have been watching temperature variations, not much of a swing.

Well, the DOW took another dive today, as of this morning. UMM! Wasn't the bailout supposed to stabilize the markets? I guess I've been mislead by the MEDIA. Oh yeah, it will take awhile for all that tax payer money to help, HA HA HA!!! Now is the time to go for good deals in real estate or gold. Of course the problem with that is liquidity, just depends on goals. Where are all of you on this matter? Statistics show that we as Americans don't save for the rainy day. However, consumerism does fuel the economy. Will be interesting to see what the debates yield or shed light on the economy.

Window Installtion, Planet Earth and VP pick

Well Good News windows is here to install my new windows. I expect to be completely satisfied by days end, saving $'s on energy and keeping cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Although just received the utility bill, only $40 for the month, of course I'm very conservative, some call me cheap, ha ha. I know who I made smile or laugh on that comment. Just recently at the Store (where I work) we have bill pay through Money Gram and I have seen utility bills for $500 in one month, how is that affordable? Anyway I'm looking forward to"spending less, saving more and not getting ripped off" of course that is the mantra of Clark Howard a talk show host. Update on the install to follow next wk.

Viewed the amazing program on Discovery Channel, Planet Earth. A group of scientist to study ways to cut greenhouse gases and "save the planet from overheating", I encourage all to see this series, very informative, some of it seems a little wacky though. The first show actually covered a portion of a glacier on Greenland with a bio-tech material to keep it from melting. It did work.

Another subject for this wk. is of course the election coming up this fall. I'm very excited about Sarah Palin as a VP canidate. Just mention it at work and lots of people are also excited. We'll just have to wait and see how all the debates go. Anyway, Palin seems down to earth and sounds like she might like to change some things in Washington. I'm all for that!!

Weeks End

Well another week has gone by.

I had mixed feelings about Sarah Palin being nominated as a Vice Presidential canidate, WOW, UHH! EXCITED!!! It's all part of the game, may the best man or woman win. Hopefully this will be a start toward doing something about changing the old boy network in Washington, where do nothing seems to be the name of the game.

All about the games

Today has been all about the OLYMPICS!!! Oh yeah, I did spend some time in the yard, watering, pulling weeds and trimming roses (early am when cool) however, I've been inside most of the day watching the GAMES. It has been great to have a Sat. off. Last week at work seemed like hell week, it finally ended. So great to see Micheal Phelps make history with 8 gold medals. Today USA womens volleyball took silver, what a match!!!

To change the subject, I had a conference call yesterday to discuss building a structure on my property in Costa Rica. Went well, however, I now have insight on just how unclear it is that I actually know what I want to build. Will be thinking more about the process for awhile to come.

Just a start

Hey,
What a great way to keep up with what's going on!!
